Specialties is the love and passion of its owner, Susan Hill. Born and raised in the South, Susan learned the art of gracious living and design at the apron strings of her mother and grandmothers. She has built a reputation as warm, and welcoming, with a keen eye for detail and fresh ideas. Her reputation precedes her as her attention to detail and flawless orchestration of the big day are unparalleled. Susan is poised to bring her enthusiasm and expertise to every client she meets ensuring a perfectly executed day.
Meet The Team
Susan Hill – Susan is a native North Carolinian, born and raised in Johnston County. Her love of design comes from her Mother and Grandmothers all of whom were creative persons and developed in her the true sense of Southern hospitality. Susan has a keen sense of balance and detail with is evident in the florals she designs. When you love what you do it’s not a job, it’s a joy and that’s how she feels about her creations. When Specialties was just a conceptual entity, Susan wanted first and foremost to make sure that all her clients felt comfortable and at ease and feels that that is what makes Specialties unique. Susan feels that nothing is impossible and loves when the client gives her unique design challenges.
Chelsea Mellonas – Chelsea graduated from the University of Massachusetts- Amherst with a degree in Psychology . Her senior year she studied abroad in Italy where she traveled extensively and developed a love for art and creativity. Chelsea developed the first web page for Specialties and is our go-to for all our technical questions. She also has a great feel for details and is gifted with design skills which she brings to the Specialties family. She currently resides in Raleigh with her Husband, Patrick and son Theo.
Brittany Foote – Brittany was trained in massage therapy and practiced that skill for several years. She has developed a keen creative eye and has assumed with ease a myriad of jobs at Specialties. Brittany is our in-house calligrapher, does amazing design work and is hands on for most weddings in any area she is needed. Brittany currently resides in Johnston County and has taken on the additional job of growing and harvesting Specialties’ florals in her back yard. She prides herself in making sure everything is in perfect order for each of Specialties’ brides.
Kerry Murray – Kerry was born and raised in the United Kingdom where she grew up in the countryside surrounded by animals and nature. She has lived in the Czech Republic and Canada but fell in love with North Carolina and currently resides in Holly Springs with her her husband, Hayden and daughter Grace and their three dogs. Kerry is the definition of creativity with incredible skills in florals, candles and wax, fondant and photography. She is very detail oriented and prides herself on perfection which is apparent in all her work.
